Leave it to the windows artists behind New York’s premier Anthropologie store to make me think of spring (all while I’m donning a scarf, mittens, hat and wool jacket) Who wouldn’t want to take a snooze under a canopy of perfectly cut blue leaves? (…if you weren’t in a store window of course) I might have to steal this swing idea for my summer windows. Fields of lavender are printed on the hanging background .

As I was gazing at my snow-filled backyard New Year’s Day, trying to brainstorm up a Valentine’s window – it hit me… …a few minutes on photoshop, a quick trip to Kinkos and lots of pink paper later… I present- flurries of love!

I really enjoy putting together our store’s window displays, but Christmas themed ones are always my favorite. Next to a sleigh… this has to be the best way to deliver your holiday goodies.  Watch out for this lovely lady biking around Rochester. Looks like Miss Merry is hoping for a kiss from Santa under the mistletoe. Building a super snowman is a cinch when you have this helpful ‘Build a Snowman Kit’.

One of my hobbies is admiring unique window displays.  I’ve walked by this adorable new dog store, Teacups & Toys in Birmingham, MI a number of times and have always been impressed. But this one is my favorite… Here the clown pooches are painting a cartoon bulldog head for the upcoming Detroit Thanksgiving Parade. Next frame… the dressed up doggies are watching a parade float pass by (pulled by a cute husky no less) .

Each time I visit New York, I always make a point to stroll by the Anthropologie store windows near the Rockefeller Center.  They’re really quite works of art and always inspire me.  A few of the windows had a sewing theme.  There are random scissors tied to the ends of the cut fabric hanging down. Only at catching fireflies will you find a fall tree bearing beautiful handbags of all shades. Not to mention a giant pink styrofoam cake touting our SEVENTH birthday! Who says a little summer housework can’t be glamorous?  Just slip on some snazzy dish gloves and a cute apron and you’ll be a cleaning diva! We’re ‘slightly’ excited about being voted the BEST gift shop in HOUR Detroit magazine. (can you tell?)

March isn’t one of the prettiest months but we do our best to add a little color to the scenery by strutting our stuff with these playful umbrellas. And before you know it, beautiful posies and butterflies will be popping up in your backyard… but if you can’t wait, stop in and we’ll be sure to add a little sunshine to your day.

I always enjoy perusing Anthropologie’s store windows in Birmingham, Michigan… but when I saw the displays at the Rockefeller Plaza Anthropologie location this past January, my jaw dropped.  They truly are works of art.
