Forget about the weather! Disregard the Dow Jones! With Valentine's Day just around the corner, now is the time to concentrate on love. Here are some terrific objects guaranteed to warm the cockles of that special person's heart.
• If it's true that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, consider these kitchen aids. The measuring cups cost $11.95, the giant cookie cutter set, $7.95, and the SweetBytes double-heart crust and sandwich cutter, $3.95 at Catching Fireflies.
• Granted it's not the real McCoy, but if your girlfriend has a sense of humor, she ought to appreciate this ceramic 2 Carat cup that sports a ring-shaped handle set with a faux diamond. (It's actually a Swarovski crystal.) Find the cup for $15.95 at Catching Fireflies in Berkley and Rochester.

yummy honey nutters
Steve & I are headed to a Super Bowl Party this evening so I made something sweet to bring. I got the recipe from this handy No Bake Recipe Book and they taste a lot like the classic Zagnut candy bars.
1 sleeve of graham crackers
1 C crunchy peanut butter
1 C honey
1/2 C powdered milk
1 C shredded coconut
Crush graham crackers. Combine peanut butter, honey and powdered milk in a large mixing bowl. Mix well. Stir in graham cracker crumbs. Make small balls and roll in shredded coconut.
How easy is that? And for a little extra whimsy in your kitchen…

super fly anthropologie windows
I know why I am so amazed by Anthropologie windows… it's because they always take everyday things like cupcake liners, newspapers, teacups, books, berry baskets and so on, then transform them into fantastic displays like this one. If you look carefully you'll see these plastic bags turning into birds.
And soaring on to the next window…
All these pics were taken at the Rockefeller location in NYC this past January.
It's hard to see but the clotheslines are full of wire bird silhouettes.
Next window report: August 2009

Stumped on what to get your sweetie? Looking to bring a little cheer to your friend's day? Want to surprise your kiddy with something sweet? Our gals and guy at catching fireflies have found their favorites for the fourteenth of February.
As an avid baker I love this embosser. Who said you need to limit it to toast. I know I could probably use it on some sugar cookies with red sprinkles or my favorite short-bread cookie. And, if you're like me, you like a good size cookie(the size of toast). $3.95
This is a perfect, little gift for that friend who might be a little lonely this Valentine's Day. Just a silly and fun reminder that "someday her prince will come!" In the meantime, this cute little guy will do! $4.50
Being that I just got engaged, I love how this 2 carat cupis packaged like a real ring. And in my opinion, a girl can never have enough bling even if it holds my morning cup of coffee. $15.95
I love these. My son's teacher loves post-it notes so we got these for her for Valentine's day. $13.95
This clock was designed and built by a local artist and friend. What a great functional gift to remind your loved one year around what they mean to you. Cupid himself probably has a clock like this on his mantel. A gift for Valentine's Day or just to show that you care. $48.00
I love glass and twisted wire. These heart salad servers are a show piece. I like to dress up my salad bowl. $24.95
This is by far one of my favorites. I think this quote says it all to your loved one. These frames are so cool and so is Winnie the Pooh! $265.00
Talk about bang for your buck… not only do I get to enjoy a tasty treat, but also whistle a happy tune with this multi-purposed candy. Our Basset Hound, Gus loves to howl away when he hears this candy whistle blow. $2.25 for 3
There's no better way to say I love you than with super big yummy chocolate chip cookies. The more batches the better! $7.95
I remember when these first came out in the 70's and begging my mom to get me one. Thought they were the coolest thing then and you know what….they're still cool even today! Perfect gift for that young girl who "has it all". $4.00
I adore pancakes and love to whip up a batch on Sunday mornings. I can't wait to charm my brunch guests with a stack of heart-shaped hotcakes covered in strawberry syrup! ;) $4.95
I always like to treat my girlfriends to something sweet for Valentine's Day. Last year I sent these in a bubble envelope with a Valentine greeting and they were a big hit. I also carry one in my purse and use it quite often to jot down things I don't want to forget. $7.95
