the magic of rainbows
Physics teaches that rainbows are created when the sunlight reflects off of raindrops, breaking up the light into different wavelengths of color. This atmospheric phenomenon is most likely to occur immediately after a rain shower, when the sun is shining again, but condensation still lingers in the air.
The rare and lovely appearance of rainbows makes them incredibly magical for children and adults alike. Perhaps this magic first inspired the notion of a pot of at the end of the rainbow.
Dating back to old Europe, the legend of the pot of gold is claimed enthusiastically . They'll tell you that fairies put the gold there and then the leprechauns guard it.
Well, even if you aren't lucky enough to spot a rainbow this spring, you can still take a tour of some fantastic photos of these magical color beams at Rainbow Sitings.com.
Or if you prefer to create your own luck, check out what what our snazzy solar powered Rainbow Maker can create in your home…ld
Either way, we wish you a wonderful rainbow connection this St. Patty's Day. Take it Kermit…
matt pratt photography
If you live in Michigan, have a wedding to plan and would like the photos of your big day to be like no others, I'd highly recommend you check out Matt Pratt Photography.
I've known Matt for over 10 years and he's always worked for big corporations. I love that he's slowly taking the leap of faith to go big with his photography business. I know from experience there's nothing more gratifying than having a job that you're passionate about.
And you can just tell from these few photos that he's found his sweet spot.
One of my favorite options he offers is candid reception photos. This is where he sets up a plain backdrop and any of your guests can come do fun, silly or serious poses. (I'd have to guess these ladies know how to have a good time)
I wish I could look at all our happy wedding guests again (just for the fashions alone:). The day goes by so fast, these photos are sure to be treasured keepsakes and are also fun to send with your wedding thank you cards.
Congratulations Matt on pursuing what you love in life!
fall in love with landon pigg
The pretty cascading guitar sounds of Mr. Pigg caught Steve's ear and I must say I wouldn't be opposed to Steve singing these sweet lyrics to me.
A review reads, "Landon Pigg may look remarkably like pretty boy Ashton Kutcher, but his sound leans more toward the flowy, groovy melodies of Brandi Carlile and Rufus Wainwright. His voice is sweet, clear, and honest. Much like the work of Carlile and Wainwright, Pigg's songs all start small and swell from there until they've just about swallowed you whole." – Kim Ruehl

peace love & planet
Meet Gina Adams-Levy of Northville, Michigan. She makes fanciful flower stakes and magical mushrooms from used plastic flower pots, containers and lids destined for the trash.
These unique perennials require no sun or water and each set of 'petals' is cut and painted by hand. The flowers have a protective finishing coat but will suffer from harsh conditions and should be firmly secured & handled with care.
These perky posies are just a small part of Gina's grand recycling plan. Her non-profit company, Peace, Love & Planet is a grassroots organization created to promote environmental education throughout metro Detroit. The first objective of Peace, Love & Planet is to help children understand the importance of environmental conservation and recycling. The second goal is to prevent hundreds of thousands of pounds of plastic from entering our Michigan landfills. Gina believes by redirecting and recycling plastic a little bit at a time we can make a positive impact on our planet.
Currently Gina is gearing up for the upcoming planting season and there are lots of ways you can help support this cause like purchasing her fun flowers at our Berkley location or donating COLORED plastic anything, ie, kids shampoo bottle, play-dough lids/containers, plastic Easter eggs, pails, detergent lids, milk jug lids, old marker lids, anything of color, especially pinks, purples, greens, yellows. You can drop off your donations at either catching fireflies locations.

pee-pee teepee on brothers & sisters
So I’m watching the big 2 hour Brothers & Sisters event Sunday night and low and behold, Kitty (Calista Flockhart) pulls out a pee-pee teepee for Evan’s very first diaper change!
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since it’s one of catching fireflies most popular baby gifts for little boys. Those Walkers – always prepared for anything… though it doesn’t look too good for Tommy next week:)
giant easter eggs & painted posies
Yeah… it's March 1st! And we can't wait for posies to start peeking up through the ground so we painted our own garden – complete with cute clouds and a paper lantern sun.
And we had so much fun with our giant hearts for Valentine's Day, we replaced them with enormous painted eggs - ready for Easter… although, these would be tough to hide.
