please play with your food
I spotted our quirky food face plate in action on the Fly to my Window blog. Looks like Mr. F got a nice mac-n-cheese hairdo with some grill cheese sideburns. Thanks Shannon for posting your pictures.
I also found these creepy looking hotdog-spaghetti creations on her blog. I wonder how you could use these on the face plate…maybe a runny nose – yuck -huh? They remind me of mutant spiders – which would be fun to serve to the kiddies on Halloween.
If you've got a special story about one of our firefly goodies, we'd love to hear it! Just drop us a line so we can share your gift giving wisdom with the rest of our whimsical world.

hunting for treasures?
If you have a weakness for yard sales or just have fun hunting for overlooked treasures, this savvy site was made for you!
Here's how it works… just enter your driving radius and magically the advertised garage sale destinations pop up all over the map. Then just click on the numbers and their craigslist info appears for your reading pleasure. Pretty snazzy huh? I thought so and I don't even frequent garage sales that often.

Recently our Rochester team member, Bess celebrated the marriage of her son. For the rehearsal dinner, she took a package of Flying Wish Paper and put together these wonderful little packages for all the guests…
The wedding party loved the idea and had a great time sending their wishes for the new couple up to the heavens.

pretty pasta dish
Saw this delish looking recipe in my Six O Clock Scramble Recipe Book and thought it'd be perfect to serve since tomatoes are so tasty right now.
Fettuccine with Melted Brie and Tomatoes
1/2 pound Brie cheese
4 large ripe tomatoes sliced or diced
1 cup fresh basil leaves cut into strips
3 cloves of minced garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
16 ounces of fettuccine
optional other sauteed vegetables like…
zucchini
summer squash
onions
peppers
Remove rind from the Brie. Tear into small pieces and place in large serving bowl. Add the tomatoes, basil, garlic and oil to the bowl.
Saute other desired vegetables in olive oil and add to the bowl.
Cook the pasta accordingly until it's al dente. Drain and immediately toss the pasta with the rest of the ingredients until the Brie has melted. Serve immediately and enjoy with a nice salad and garlic bread. Yummmm! Just had left-overs of this dish tonight and it's still fantastic the 2nd time around.
However, I do need to bring home a bar of magic soap as my hands smelled like garlic, onions and basil for many hours after making the dish:)

hitsville inpsired tunes for 2009
Mr. John Mayer recently raved about this retro hipster on twitter and I have to say I agree.
Mayer Hawthorne grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan,
just outside of Detroit, and vividly remembers, as a child, driving
with his father and tuning the car radio in to the rich soul and jazz
history the region provided. “Most of the best music ever made came out
of Detroit,” claims the singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist,
who counts Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Mike Terry, and Barry White among
his influences, but draws the most inspiration from the music of Smokey
Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, and the legendary songwriting and production
trio of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland Jr.
A review reads, "If honky soul is having an extended moment thanks to Justin Timberlake,
Robin Thicke, and Jamie Lidell, Mayer Hawthorne probably has no clue.
Hawthorne (né Andrew Cohen) is trapped in a time-stop circa 1976, and
his immaculate debut is replica music, constructed and buffed to a high
sheen. Drawing on Holland-Dozier- Holland’s crisp, 180-second soul
classics, the Michigan-born Hawthorne gorgeously apes the Temptations
on “I Wish It Would Rain” and “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out.” There’s
hardly an original thought here, but with arrangements so expertly
composed, who’s complaining?" By Sean Fennessey
