If the stars were mine…
I’d give them all to you
I’d pluck them down right from the sky
And leave it only blue
A review reads, “My One and Only Thrill is built primarily on Gardot originals (a fine version of “Over the Rainbow” that closes the album being the only exception) that seamlessly blend sultry, late-night jazz blues, singer/songwriter introspection, and sophisticated pop melodies. If anything, My One and Only Thrill emphasizes Gardot‘s chanteuse qualities, feeling like more of a jazz album than its predecessor, thanks both to its languid atmosphere and also Gardot‘s phrasing, which elegantly elongates her melodies and slips into scat.” by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

jewelry derived from nature
Meet Shari Dixon of Memphis Tennessee. She is the creative talent behind this gorgeous & affordable nature-inspired jewelry line.
Shari believes that women want to feel beautiful, feminine & strong all at once – so her motifs incorporate natural elements such as flowers & feathers, imortalizing their fragile lives by sealing them in poly resin, perserving the form & adding a spectacular glazing effect.
These elements then become a handmade design combined with curious & daring color choices in a multitude of natural materials such as genuine stones, fresh water pearls & interesting fibers, forming whimsical & extremely unique designs of personal adornment.
You can find a lovely assortment of Shari’s work at our Berkley & Rochester locations.

smells so good… I could just eat it!
With all the delicious scents of candles availabe these days, it’s sometimes hard not to salivate when smelling some of them. And our new soy+beeswax Milkhouse candles are no exception… however they do offer recipes that compliment the smell of their delicious scents- like this Gingerbread Pumpkin Dip.
I plan on whipping up this tasty recipe & serving it with apples at a get-together soon.
Beat all the ingredients together, cover & chill. Great served with graham crackers, apples, a topping for angel food cake or vanilla wafers.

3 savvy ways to tie a scarf
We have so many stylish scarves in different weights, colors & patterns at our Berkley & Rochester locations, I asked our firefly gals if they had any clever ways they like to wear this popular fall accessory.
First off, Bess says she learned this trick from her friends in Greece.
And Kathy shared this 80’s inspired bow-like style with us… and guess what I just saw in Real Simple this month? Bows are BACK!
And I’m always COLD*COLD*COLD so this style is a little more interesting than the tradional ways of tying, plus it keeps my neck cozy.
Got any scarf tying tricks up your sleeve? Come on in & show us your skills with one of our pretties.

and the I Love Yellow Giveway winner is..
Thank you for participating in our “I Love Yellow Giveaway”! Turns out we’re not the only ones who love this happy color. Also, thanks for spreading the news to your friends through facebook, twitter and email forwards. Word of mouth has always been our best form of advertising and we couldn’t do it without YOU!
With that being said, we invite you to tour through Yellow Door Art Market in downtown Berkley & experience this new shopping adventure for yourselves. We’re open the same hours as our catching fireflies locations, Mon-Sat 10-6, Thur 10-8 & Sun 12-5. Hope to see you soon!
Out of all our entries, Jamison is our winner… Green is my favorite color because it represents pure happiness for me. It reminds me of my trip to Ireland 11 years ago and of my college years at Michigan State.
