our sex and the city five-some

our sex and the city five-some
A few of the catching fireflies gals and I spent the evening swept away in the land of Carrie Bradshaw. We’re hardly the fashionistas that Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda & Samantha are, however we still know how to have a grand time… even in blue jeans. Okay, here’s the shoe review for the evening… Cheryl in a flirty floral number with a punchy pink polish… very tropical! Sara in a spring green preppy style that .

On one of the evenings of our up-north art adventure, Aly & I headed a little further north to Roger’s City to dine with my friend, Mary Pritchard of Domaci Gallery. I knew Aly and Mary would hit it off since they’re both artists, have their own stores in historic buildings and love treasure hunting at estate & garage sales. Plus they both carry my line of goodies at their galleries too! Here’s .

The last day of the workshop we continued working on our collage projects.  Here’s a shot of the fun ladies at our table and cute Claudine. At lunch time, we got the opportunity to dine with Claudine and her mom.   They’re both just delightful. These pretties are Catherine’s creations. And Aly’s sweet guys. My second piece was in honor of Samson.  The edge of the canvas reads, "Samsonville: the land of car rides, ice .

a weekend with claudine hellmuth

a weekend with claudine hellmuth
Thursday afternoon my two friends (Aly & Catherine) and I headed up to Art in the Loft in Alpena, MI to take a lovely little workshop from the talented Claudine Hellmuth. This is an example of one of her whimsical collage works. The first day we learned how to create any color we want by mixing the appropriate amounts of primary colors and black & white paint. Then each gal at our table chose .

Believe it or not, I actually worked while I was in New York.  Here is our a.i. paper design booth where stores can see our full line and order our items. We had fun neighbors like… Fish Lips Paper Design who creates stylish 100% recycled gift wrap printed with soy inks.  (the story of her business name is really cute) And Denise Cope of Hung on Words (who happened to grow up in Birmingham, .

Whenever Steve & I have a trade show in New York, we always make sure we schedule in a day of exploring.  Here’s a glimpse of some of our sites during our walk on Broadway from 35th all the way to Battery Park. Danielle, Dena and I had a grand time celebrating our win for the Strut Women’s Choice Award at the girls night out party. The Royal Oak Music Theater was packed with delicious food vendors, boutique tables and other great services like make-overs, hand massages and friend photo shoots. Danielle and I tried oysters for the first time from Tom’s Oyster Bar.  I doused mine with a good portion of cocktail sauce, while Danielle enjoyed .

my artfest adventure in a nut shell

my artfest adventure in a nut shell
Michelle and I arrived in beautiful Port Townsend late afternoon and took in some sights before our art adventure began. Artfest took place in Fort Worden State Park.  We were lucky enough to stay right on the grounds with other art-festers in ‘dorm-like’ rooms. Being new to Artfest, I didn’t come prepared with trades.  I quickly found out that many art-festers make small goodies to trade with other artists and in the end you .

Meet Chris Ann Freeman of ca concepts studio in historic Williamston, Michigan. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris when I stopped by to see my friend’s store, Bloom recently and was blown away by her talent of transforming typical rooms into works of art.  In addition to interior design, Chris also specializes in floral design.  These are a few of her creations from an Easter event. Here are a few more shots of .

Another stop on my recent Florida vacation was this little gem of a store-cafe. It’s located on Anna Maria Island (the most Northern Sarasota key) Being in the retail biz, I always enjoy scouting out unique shops that have a lot of personality… and Ginny’s and Jane e’s fits that description perfectly. Imagine combining a coffee shop + cafe + antique/flea market  + fun gift shop + local art gallery + used book store .
