Meet Claudine Hellmuth of Orlando Florida… collage artist extraordinaire.  She creates mixed media collages that incorporate paper, paint, fabric, pen and photocopies.  She describes her work as whimsical and colorful with a dash of retro.

Claudine is a very busy girl… writing books, putting together instructional dvds, teaching workshops, creating artwork for companies PLUS she still has time to create personalized artwork (as seen above).  You just send her your photographs and she creates a magical portrait of your family.

I think this composition is so funny… just add a couple of cats and it’d be the perfect layout for my furry family portrait. (just in case you were wondering – Steve, my husband isn’t furry… just the pets:)

Just recently Claudine was featured on Martha Stewart’s TV Show.  She demonstrated how to make these oh-so-adorable sitting pretty poppets.  She wrote all about her experience on her blog (very interesting and entertaining)

I personally really love Claudine’s work, so when I found out she was teaching a 3 day workshop this spring in Alpena, Michigan, I had to sign up.  It’s been a while since I made art just for myself.  I find it’s really easy to get wrapped up in the business side of it all and it’s time to remind myself where it all started.  I can’t wait to introduce Samson to the world of pretty poppets.
