a sunny soiree
The little neighborhood party we dreamed-up a couple weeks ago turned out to be quite the swingin' Sunday afternoon. Our neighbors brought lots of sweet treats and tasty snacks to munch on which made it a breeze to host. We just provided the beverages & backyard and in return we got to visit with the neighbors we already knew, plus met quite a few new faces from around the block.
If you haven't had a chance to get-to-know your neighbors or it's been a while since you've chatted across the fence, I highly recommend hosting a casual event like this. It's a simple way to connect with the community you live.

I missed your original post on this. Just yesterday I said to my husband, we need a backyard potluck … is this Friday okay? And I made up a quick invite and am passing them around this morning. Glad to see yours went well. It gives me hope.
Looks like a blast! Wish I were one of your neighbors :) It’s great to see this example of a community getting together and sharing time together — instead of cooped up on our houses on our computers and video games systems!
Just a quick follow up. We had seven families join us and everyone kept saying what a great idea and I kept stressing how easy it was hoping that someone else will attempt a little shin dig next month.
On another note, I like the fact that you’ve changed your blog settings so I can see the whole post in Google Reader. Much better. I still click over to the blog when I need to but before I would tend to gloss over entries in Reader because I couldn’t see the photos or get the whole post. Now I’m able to read everything!
